Tattoos

Does anyone else have tattoos? I have a total of 4 (pics below).

I got the first, dive flag and shark, when I was in college. I had been certified as a scuba diver and was on my way to becoming an instructor.

I got the second, the conch shell, when I lived in Key Largo. It just felt like home to me, and still does in a way. Part of me will always be there, it was a huge time in my life.

The third, the armband with flowers, just came along about a year ago. It does go all the way around, btw. I figure if you're gonna do it, may as well do it right!

The fourth, the peace sign, I just got a few months ago. I was looking for myself, and wanted something symbolic. Peace signs are becoming very popular again, and it kinda pisses me off, 'cause I was into them before it was cool. Now everybody has one.

I would love to see pics of your tattoos and the story behind them. Please share!

If you don't have any, why not? No judgment one way or another, it's a personal choice. I personally like the art and the symbolism, every tat tells a story.

What do you think?

I managed to survive four years in the Navy (1968-1972) without getting a tattoo.

Tattoos have long been a part of the serviceman's "uniform," especially that of a sailor.

I just never really wanted one and never got drunk enough to get one.

I never had anything against them one way or the other - and still don't - although I think some of them are overly excessive.

I have four as well. This gives me a great idea for a post too!

I have always expressed myself as I've wished.

Love yours!

I have 2 tattoos. One on my right shoulder blade in memory of a friend who was more like a brother to me and the other is on the top of my right foot. It's a small heart with an infinity symbol running through it. Me, my sister, and best friend all got this together. It's like our bond. I'll probably get more, just have to find something that means enough to me to get it inked onto my body.

It drives me nuts to see people who get inked and it doesn't mean anything. They just do it to say they have a tattoo. I know its everybody's choice, but I like it to mean something, ya know.

Hale - LOL @ never drunk enough to want one. Hubby's not into it either.

Liquid - I would love to see yours!

Nik - I agree, each one of mine has a very special meaning to me - more so than what I shared in the post.

Hi Christina ~~ Nice pics of your tattoos
I don't have any and am unlikely to get any at my age. Some of them look nice, but not too many. like all over the arms.
Thanks for your comment about "The Beautiful Story." It was a lovely story, glad you liked it. Take care, my friend. Love, Merle.

Never got one.

Never wanted one.

More power to those who do.

Two of my daughters have them.

It is a personal preference.

I have been drunk enough, though, but the opportunity did not appear.

Love the peace sign. I was asked once, while on active duty, if I was such a "hippie", where was my beard. "It is waiting to grow." snerx

Most of my upper back has tattoos. It's a Hawaii theme with all sorts of things going on. Someday, I'll show them.
